Certain schools and programs, including giftedness programs, advanced programs, and private schools, often require intelligence and/or academic testing. While test scores are not the only factor considered in determining eligibility, they are often used to clarify the needs of the student and determine if the school or program can meet those needs.
While schools often complete screenings, they may not formally evaluate your child. Parents should discuss options with schools and know that working with an experienced board-certified neuropsychologist may aid in their understanding and ability to navigate next steps. These evaluations often involve 1.5-2 hours of testing and potentially input from family and schools. Parents participate in a brief intake on the day of testing. Feedback is provided via a brief report they can share with school. The fee is $500. Parents are invited to schedule a brief in-person or telehealth feedback for an addition fee ($150 for 30 minutes).
